Los Angeles – Whenever mainstream media features the adult industry, Cherie DeVille is ready to fact-check what has been published. In response to the New Yorker’s piece regarding sex trafficking and PornHub, Cherie was ready to publish her rebuttal on The Daily Beast, titled “How Anti-Porn Evangelicals Hoodwinked The New Yorker.”
Cherie discusses the fallacies in the article, starting with an interview with #Traffickinghub creator and Justice Defense Fund founder Laila Mickelwait. Cherie is familiar with Mickelwait’s approach to the porn industry and how PornHub is responsible for child trafficking. Cherie is quick with statistics from the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children, pointing out an alarming number of incidents reported on Facebook and other social media platforms. Cherie also points out how PornHub now has requirements to post content, including age verification.
It’s also important to note, as Cherie points out, that Mickelwait is affiliated with fanatical zealots from Exodus Cry and Kansas City’s International House of Prayer (IHOPKC), which produced a homophobic film. Cherie also calls out The New Yorker for misleading porn performers who agreed to be interviewed, most notably Allie Eve Knox, who wrote an open letter to The New Yorker.
“I find it appalling that The New Yorker would write a piece that was so filled with mistruths and lies,” commented Cherie. “I am thankful that The Daily Beast allows me a platform to speak out for the industry and debunk the lies that continue to come from #Trafffickinghub’s founder, Laila Mickelwait. I will continue to defend the industry that makes me proud to be a performer.”
